Hey, tired of spam calls? Now no need to worry about it, TRAI is going to introduce a Truecaller-like Caller ID feature. The system may enable a KYC based caller name to flash on the screen when you get a call from someone. The Government wants to replace truecaller with its latest caller id features. That will be the same in many aspects with Truecaller.

Maybe you know the Truecaller displayed name on the caller ID is not verified by KYC. it is somehow displayed by the name that is saved in the user interest. Apart from this, the information that is obtained by such apps is crowdsourced, so the authenticity of such apps is doubtable.

The Department of Telecom has given a permission to the TRAI to start work on the caller ID feature. As per PTI chairman VD Vaghela said the regulator is expected to begin work on it in a couple of months. “We have just received a reference, and we will start work on this soon. The name as per KYC will appear when someone calls. The Mechanism will enable names appearing on a phone screen, in accordance with KYC done by telecom companies, as per Dot norms.” chairman of TRAI said.
